Building a Culture with Leadership That Inspires 

We are stoked to share that Surf Bar’s very own CEO, Tyler Huebert, has been named a NextGen Under 30 winner! 

NextGen under 30 Oklahoma recognizes individuals who demonstrate talent, drive, and service to their communities. Tyler won under the category Hospitality: Restaurants/Foodservice, Bars, and Hotels. 

Committing to Something Greater Than Ourselves 

Upon receiving the NextGen Under 30 award, Tyler wrote on LinkedIn, “It’s humbling to win this nomination, but it’s definitely not a one-person award. Behind this award stands a loving wife, committed team, and most importantly, a gracious God.  
 
What a joy it is to do what I love for work.  
 
What a joy to work at a place that has a mission to Serve People Intentionally and Make God Known Through Us.” 

The NextGen Under 30 award is handed out to leadership, but we see this recognition as a reflection of our entire team. Our mission has always been clear: to Serve People Intentionally and Make God Known Through Us. It’s this mission that fuels our passionate team. 

Serving People Intentionally 

An inspiring moment last month from our team showcases the exact culture we’re building at Surf Bar. A culture that serves people intentionally.  

Here’s what happened: 

At 2am, several Surf Bar team members gathered in the kitchen of our Shawnee location with Tyler to prepare over 300 bowls for a local hospital. Our incredible team worked from 2am to 4am, ensuring that each bowl was made to the Surf Bar standard. 

Team members chose to give up sleep to help make açai bowls, but instead of exhaustion or dread, there was laughter, energy, and joy in serving. The music was on, and the vibes were high! 

WHY? 

Our team volunteered to serve because they believe in what we’re building together. Our team offered to come in. No bribes or begging. Just servant-hearted people willing to jump in and make it happen. 

That’s the culture we’re striving for at Surf Bar. A place where people love what they do, where leadership is about serving one another, and where even the toughest challenges can be fun when tackled together. 

The NextGen Under 30 award may have Tyler’s name on it, but it belongs to our entire Surf Bar family. We’re continuing to build something special, and we’re grateful for every person who helps make it possible.
