The Surf Bar opened on November 5th, 2018, in the back of a boutique building in Shawnee, OK. Tyler fell in love with açaí bowls in places he’d traveled to, like Hawaii, Florida, and California. He had already decided he wasn’t going to college so when the opportunity came his senior year of high school, his dad, Scott, gave him $750 to buy a sign and bought 2 blenders, 1 freezer, 1 fridge, and a sink. Since then, with the help of Scott, Westie, AJ, Matt, and other significant people, we have been bringing good vibes and a great product everywhere we go, One Bowl At A Time.

When we opened in 2018, we were the definition of a small business – in fact, about as small as you could get. Everything that we could do ourselves, we did. Coming into this, we had zero experience in food, food management, and anything related to running a small business. However, we did have ambition and a passion to turn this into something significant – something that would change our community. We had a dream, and no matter what, we were determined to accomplish it.

To this day, we still carry that dream of making this small business something significant. Our ambition and passion hasn’t slowed down one bit. But, at the end of the day, none of this is possible without YOU. Your support is what drives us. Thank you for helping us change our communities. It is our pleasure and responsibility to serve you every day, and we are deeply grateful for you.
